Deepthroating - you've probably heard of it. The receiving party usually enjoys it a lot, but the person giving the blowjob may experience gagging and other unpleasant sensations. Luckily, you can learn how to deepthroat. Deepthroating can also be fun for yourself, as the amount of pleasure you give someone can give you an ego boost. Wondering how to learn? Read on!
What exactly is deepthroating?
We have already given a short description above, but let's go into more detail here. Deepthroating can be placed in the same category as blowjobs. Deepthroating means taking the penis as deep as possible into your mouth and throat. For the receiving party, this can be an incredibly delicious sexual act. Because the penis goes much deeper into the mouth and throat, the receiver experiences an incredible all-round stimulation, which is mainly focused on the head of the penis.
The gag reflex
Someone who is not very experienced in deepthroating may have some difficulty with this. This is often caused by the gag reflex: you may gag when you try to deepthroat. This is not necessarily something that happens all the time, but you obviously do not want it to happen to you during sex. It really depends on how trained your 'gag reflex' is and whether deepthroating is really something for you.
General do's and don'ts
Before we get into the dirty details of deepthroating, let's get some oral sex basics out of the way.
Start slow
Don't go from zero to deepthroat - work your way up gradually until you have the entire penis in your mouth. Spend some time licking the shaft, circling the head, sucking on the tip, and wiggling the frenulum. You can increase the pace and amount of penis or dildo in your mouth as the momentum builds.
Don't ignore the headline
The head of the penis is a bed of sensitive nerve endings. That means some penis owners will LOVE having direct contact between deep throat thrusts, while others might find it overstimulating. Use verbal and nonverbal communication to figure out what your partner likes. Do they move their hips toward your mouth when you focus on the tip? Chances are they enjoy having the head stimulated. Do they move their hips away or grimace when you focus on the tip? Chances are it’s too sensitive. You can also ask, “Do you like it when I lick the head, or is it too sensitive?”
Pay attention to their body language
You shouldn’t *only* pay attention to their body language cues when you’re licking their head. You want to be attuned to those signals at all times. They give you insight into what your partner likes and doesn’t like.
Look into each other's eyes
One of the best ways to up the intimacy quotient of deep throating is to stare at your partner like you do. Or, you know, look lovingly into their eyes like the softy that you are.
Use more than just your mouth
It’s called oral sex, not just oral sex. In other words, use your hands! Using your hands is a great way to keep your mouth from getting tired, and it’s also a great way to stimulate the entire penis and mix up the sensations.
Use lubricant
When you start using your hands, you may want to use more than just spit to aid in sliding your hands down the shaft. Any lubricant can be helpful, but flavored lube adds an extra layer of meaning (flavor) to your experience.
If you want to practice, use your fingers or grab a dildo.
You don't want to use a hot dog, banana, or cucumber. But by practicing putting a dildo or your own fingers in your mouth, you'll learn how deep you can comfortably take a partner.
Deepthroat: How
Want to become a real deepthroat pro, but don’t know where to start? Well, it’s all about relaxing your throat. Too much stress and muscle tension in the throat is not very conducive to a great deepthroat experience. You can practice relaxing your throat. You can try it with your partner, but to prevent uncomfortable gagging, we’ve listed a few other ways to practice:
# 1 Your own fingers
Practicing deepthroating is definitely possible without someone pushing on your head. Try using your own fingers! This is a great way to train your gag reflex. Slowly insert your fingers as far into your mouth as you can, but stop when you feel yourself gagging. Then wait 10 seconds and try again. Keep repeating this with your fingers until you have mastered the reflex.
Some people will get the hang of it quicker than others, but don’t give up! You could also try using a toothbrush. Regular toothbrushes are often a bit longer than your fingers and it’s probably easier. You could even brush around the uvula with the bristles to induce gagging, as an exercise.
#2 A dildo (with suction cup)
A dildo is great if you want to practice something more realistic. In this case, it is advisable to choose a flexible model, since a dildo made of glass or metal does not really bend during deepthroating. The most common dildo model is the one with a suction cup (found in our stores), and this is convenient because you can position it in a way that works best for you.
Experiment with different angles to find the sweet spots and discover your limits. The same rule applies to using a dildo; you may find it easy or very challenging! In any case, take all the time to explore the technique and lubricate it if necessary or put a condom on it (try a flavored condom, also available in our store).
#3 Positioning is important
Both during practice and during the real thing, your position is incredibly important! If you decide to use your fingers or toothbrush, you can choose different positions. Think of standing in front of a mirror, sitting on a chair or lying on the bed. If you are going to use a suction cup dildo, you can lie on your back with your head just over the edge of the bed. Or lift your legs and tense your abs. This can drastically reduce the chance of gagging.
Another nice position that many people find attractive is sitting on your knees with your head facing the ceiling. Remember to get into a comfortable position that allows you to relax your throat.
#4 Your partner
At some point you will want to go for the real thing, but don't expect too much the first time. After practicing with less lifelike props, it is still wise to take it easy with a real penis. Don't forget to breathe through your nose during deepthroating, stick your tongue out as far as possible, keep your chin up a bit and see how it goes. Make sure you like it and don't feel pressured. If you don't like it, don't do it. It's very possible that this is just not your thing!
If you are concerned about being able to breathe
Deepthroating a penis is not the same as wearing a butt plug, for example. This means that while a butt plug goes in and stays in the hole, the penis must constantly move in and out of the throat, also known as a "diving" motion. As long as the penis is moving, breathing should not be a problem.
If you are concerned about gagging
To gag or not to gag, that is the question. (Yes, it is a choice!)
How to avoid it
To prevent gagging, find out how far the penis or dildo can go into your throat without gagging, then make a ring with your fingers at that point and don't go any further than that. Optional: stroke the area under your fingers with your hand or a vibrator.
How to Use Gagging for Your Partner's Pleasure
Some people like to think they are "so big" that they make their partner gag. So you might allow yourself to gag or do it on purpose to stroke their ego and put on a show.
If you are concerned about vomiting - or if it happens
Vomiting while deepthroating may sound like a big deal, but it doesn’t have to be. If you have to throw up, just rinse your mouth and hop in the shower together so you can wash away the vomit.
What you might say when you throw up:
“Honey, I’m sorry! I got a little overexcited and took you deeper than I could handle. Can I help you wash the dishes in the shower?”
“Hey [insert name here]. I just threw up on your dick, let's go to the shower and rinse you off.”
Things to Remember When Deepthroating
With any form of oral sex, there is a chance that it will not go as smoothly as you would like. A good lubricant can make deepthroating a lot more pleasant and enjoyable. In addition to lubricant, you can also choose to use a normal or flavored condom.
Maybe deepthroating just isn’t your thing, and that’s totally okay. You should never do anything you’re not comfortable with, but it’s always fun to try something new. It might be a disappointment, but it might also be a big surprise. Open yourself up to a new challenge, and who knows, you might like it!
